Blog Hiatus

Since I can’t seem to keep up with my blog like I wish I could, I’ve decided to put it on hold for a while. Other things in life have me tied up and it makes it hard to keep it up to date. However, I’m still spending time behind the lens and do plan to post photos on my RTJ Photography Facebook page as often as possible… so check that out to view my images! http://www.facebook.com/rtjphotography

Come on Spring!

Spring was well on it’s way until we got a cold snap in Virginia the last few days. This morning there was a dusting of snow. I haven’t had my camera out very much yet this year but plan to get back on it soon! Until then, here are a few shots from last Spring around this time. Looking forward to warmer weather! :)

Today a friend of mine posted some photos on Facebook from his recent trip to Jackson Hole Wyoming. It made me think back to last June when we traveled there and spent time in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. I posted a few photos last year when things were slow going for me in Photoshop. I’m slightly more efficient now, so I thought I’d share some more.

This little guy lives in a paddock just down the road from my office. The bokeh effect is actually due to the wooden fence I was shooting through.

Craft it Forward #1

At the beginning of the year, I joined with my sister in a “Craft it Forward” effort and promised to give a hand-made item to five Facebook friends who agreed to do the same, sometime in 2011. The first went to my friend, Chris. Chris is a car guy, so I chose for him one of the first photographs I ever took with my Nikon – my Papa’s circa 1975 (maybe someone out there can help me with the actual year) Pontiac Catalina. My mom and aunts and uncle used to drive it too and I fondly remember that big green hunk of rust

Go share your talent and do something hand-made for someone you know…it really can be anything and it’s way better than all that made-in-China stuff!

The Old House

On my grandparents’ farm in Virginia, there stands an old house where my Papa’s brother used to live. When he moved to Pennsylvania, the house wasn’t kept up and it’s just deteriorated over the years. We’ve always referred to it as “The Old House” and it now (barely) stands full of history and memories. It sits just up the hill from the pond we call “The Big Pond”. (creative names huh?) It was always one of my favorite spots to ride to on my bike as a kid with my sister and cousins. I’m glad I had the chance to photograph it before there’s nothing left.

We visited The Jefferson Hotel with my parents for a nice holiday dinner. What a beautiful building, fabulous decorations, and great food… (But the company was the best part.)
